On Saturday, September 3, a young man from Lafayette, Louisiana was killed in a plane crash in Texas.
According to authorities, the accident happened shortly before 7 p.m. about a quarter mile south of the Highway 105 bridge in Liberty County,
A light stunt aircraft being flown by 26 year old Patrick Falterman of Tarkington, Texas and with his friend 26 year old Zach Esters of Lafayette on board was supposedly performing stunts above the Trinity River. The Liberty County Sheriff’s office says that witnesses stated the plane was flying low over the river and was doing a backward loop when the engine stalled at the top of the maneuver, the aircraft rolled and crashed into the river.
However, the pilot’s family also witnessed the crash and according to local pilots he was not performing a stunt at the time of the crash but at this time no one knows the reason for the accident.
