Woman From Ville Platte Dies in Car Accident

Early on Christmas Day, December 25, a woman from Ville Platte woman died in a car accident.

According to State Police, the accident happened at around 1 a.m. on the Bois D’Arc Road in Evangeline Parish.

Allison Gremillion, aged 24, was driving a Nissan Maxima east on the road when the car traveled off the left side of the roadway, hit a ditch, struck an embankment and overturned. Gremillion was not wearing her seat belt and she was partially ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

At this stage it is not known if impairment was a factor in the crash but toxicology samples were taken from Gremillion and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. In the meantime the
crash remains under investigation.

Police warned of the importance of wearing a seat belt which greatly increases the chances of surviving a crash.
